22 august. Tape removal. Fixatives (I) adhesives and fixatives
- 9:00 – 10:30 Welcome and introduction to the course (handouts, conservation lab, tools…). Stains. Mechanical, physical and chemical stain removers: heating, surface dirt cleaning, poultices, bleaching agents, solvents… (theory).
- 10:30 – 10:50 Coffee break.
- 10:50 – 12:45 Adhesives and fixatives (theory): types and properties.
- 12:45 – 13:50 Lunch break.

- 15:45 – 17:15 Fixation of inks: preparing fixatives

- 10:30 – 10:50 Coffee break.
- 10:50 – 13:50 Identification workshop and conservation housing proposals.
Most evenings are thought to be practical sessions, and the program intends to evolve in a way that the evening sessions allow practicing on the issues already discussed during the previous days.
Although both tools and practising samples/documents will be supplied at the workshops, participants are welcome to bring their own tools, in case they want to achieve a much similar experience to their workspace.
Participants are also encouraged to bring samples and/or documents* they would like to practice with.
* The practice will be guided and supervised, but the exercises on original documents will be under the participants’ responsibility.
